Where is the Black Forest?

In southwestern Germany, between the Rhine and Neckar rivers.  The Black Forest, or Schwarzwald in German, is a mountainous region that takes its name from the dark coniferous trees that cover its slopes.  Its fertile valleys provide good pastureland and produce grapes for wine, and its trees supply the lumber and woodworking industries, as well as toy and cuckoo clock manufacturers.  The region's scenic beauty, winter sports facilities, and mineral springs attract many tourists each year.

Easter Island, situated 2,300 miles (3,700 km) west of Chile in the Pacific Ocean.  This small volcanic island was discovered on Easter Sunday in 1722, and was annexed by Chile in 1888.  Although it belongs to Chile, geographically Easter Island is considered to be part of Oceania, not South America.  It is best known for its strange monuments: scattered over the island are more than 600 huge stone faces, the earliest dating back more than 1,500 years.
